KAREL Visits Anıtkabir in Its 40th Year: Four Decades of Domestic Technology

KAREL, one of Türkiye’s long-established technology companies, visited Anıtkabir on its 40th founding anniversary. The visit on September 22, 2026 was led by General Manager Altay Doğu and brought together executives, affiliate representatives and employees. You can watch the film of the visit below.

A meaningful ceremony at Anıtkabir

A wreath was laid at Atatürk’s mausoleum on behalf of KAREL. General Manager Altay Doğu then went to the Misakımillî Tower and signed the Anıtkabir Special Guestbook. Doğu described KAREL’s 40-year journey as part of Türkiye’s determination to develop and produce its own technology, and emphasised that this legacy was built through the work of employees, affiliates and business partners.

From a domestic telephone exchange to integrated technology

KAREL was founded in 1986 with the goal of developing and producing Türkiye’s own telephone exchange. For many years, KAREL-branded exchanges and desk phones were part of the communication infrastructure of homes and offices across the country. The company has since evolved from analogue exchanges to digital and IP-based systems, and on to cloud-based communication solutions.

Today, KAREL operates in five main areas: communications, defence, field operations, automotive and electronics manufacturing. With around 4,000 employees and a 35,000 m² production centre in the Ankara Sincan Organised Industrial Zone, it brings R&D, electronic design, manufacturing, system integration and field operations under one roof.

In its LinkedIn post after the visit, KAREL shared that, in its 40th year, its management team, affiliates and colleagues stood together in the presence of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The company emphasised that, following the path Atatürk showed, it will continue to work and produce under the guidance of science, reason and innovation, adding value to the country through technology. Noting that its commitment to the Republic gives strength to every step as it shapes the future with domestic engineering power, the post closed with the words “With gratitude and respect… with 40 years of pride, towards the future.”

After 40 years: engineering and innovation

KAREL’s 40th-anniversary message looks ahead: to keep contributing to Türkiye’s technology and manufacturing capacity in the spirit of the Republic’s legacy of reason and science, while continuing to strengthen its engineering and innovation capabilities. The visit to Anıtkabir brought these 40 years together in a meaningful place, as both a moment of gratitude and the start of a new chapter.
